Annual Colton Picnic

Each fall, the Elwood Community in Colton holds an annual picnic for all of the locals. This was our first year to attend and we had the opportunity to meet many pillars of the community. John, one of our neighbors, roasted a pig on a spit. We also learned that, in the past, the picnic was held at the church. But in order to encourage a larger turnout, this year they decided to meet across the street in the cemetery! After the feast the call went out looking for volunteers for next years bash. Somehow without knowing quite what happened, Jodi was elected assistant to the co-chair of the planning committee for 2008. We’re starting to figure out that not much happens without the declaration of a formal committee!
