We’ve finally made it on board the Island Princess and as of 7pm we’ve already eaten twice!
But before we can cruise, we must Muster!

It wouldn’t be a vacation without a segway tour! Although there is really not much to see in Anchorage, we did have fun zooming around town! One historic location was this statue of Balto marking the starting point for the annual Iditarod race.
We picked up Mom and Jean from the airport yesterday and had a pretty good dinner at Humpy’s. Today we headed north to explore Thunderbird Falls and Eklunta Lake.
What better way to check out Anchorage than to take the local trolly!
While driving around town we toured through the most popular float plane area in the US.
We’re officially on vacation! We arrived in Anchorage this afternoon. We stopped for lunch at a cool little pub called the Moose’s Tooth then had a late dinner at Friday’s. As of 10:30 this evening, it’s still very light outside!!
For the last several weeks we’ve had a dog roaming the neighborhood and digging through our trash cans. He’s made such a mess that, a few times, the trash collectors wouldn’t pick up the trash. Worried that one of our neighbors may ‘take care’ of the problem in his own way; we called Dog services who offered to deliver a live trap.
We got home from work and looked around but couldn’t find the trap. We found an open can of dog food, but no other signs that the dog services woman had been to the house. Could she have caught the dog already? We weren’t sure so we checked the surveillance cameras…and could not believe what we saw!!!
The lady did stop by and set up the trap…but apparently the Bobs were very interested in what she was doing and she doesn’t like birds much, let alone large, curious turkeys! While setting the trap, the Bobs surrounded her, catching her off guard and causing the trap to engage – locking her inside! Well, a picture is worth a thousand words so instead of trying to describe it…here’s the video!
Are these the faces of dangerous birds??
Here’s Tucker next to the cage, just for perspective!
Our big event for the fire department (and probably the second largest event in Colton every year next to the Christmas Tree lighting at the phone company) is the volunteer breakfast and auction. This year’s event had a great turn out and we even had a guest showing from Engine 1, Colton’s very first fire engine!
This evening we arrived at our final stop prior to Seattle…Victoria, British Colombia. Since we didn’t have any excursions planned, we had some time to stroll through the town. The only thing worth reporting was the cute seal that kept us entertained while waiting for Customs to clear the ship…
We went from having snow on the ground last week to 70° degree weather today so we decided to mow the lawn. Bubba, Bailey, and Cooper were definitely up for the job. Tucker even decided to help by supervising the work crew.
We had a surprise party for Tim, one of our fellow firefighters, down at the station. As for most 40th parties, guests brought all the old fart gifts.
