Down with the Old
Today we tore down the old coops! Nana stopped by so she took a turn on the back hoe, too!

We were excited to get an invite from Gloria for a Memorial Day BBQ. Gloria seemed to have a great time with Kenzie. It was great to see Sissy and Dan, too!
We decided to take a drive out to McMinnville to the air museum and new water park. Kent, Miranda, and Dylan decided to go with. Upon arrival, we discovered the fee to get into the water park was $30 per person (outrageous!) so we decided to stick with the museum. They had a new display of the Berlin Wall, which was pretty cool. Kenzie got to see the Spruce Goose but I don’t think she was as impresses as Brad was.
Reading about ways to create a Montessori style learning environment at home for Kenzie, I ran across the suggestion to set up treasure baskets. The objects in these baskets can be random, everyday items and can be grouped by theme. The premise behind the basket is to encourage heuristic play; to allow Kenzie to explore her environment and to be exposed to various objects, textures, and sounds at her own pace. Now that she is sitting up (mostly) unsupported, this was a good time to make her first treasure basket. We started with shiny things (Mickie – I had Tucker check my work and he confirmed – everything in the basket is, in fact, shiny!)
Kenzie had her first taste of solid foods today – oatmeal! Here she is before:
And after:
All on her own!!!
Kenzie made her first trip to Voodoo Doughnuts – now she’s a real native!
When I picked Kenzie up from school yesterday, she told me all about her day! (the original video goes on for over a minute, and she hardly took a breath the whole time!)
Kenzie’s teachers do a really good job of posting the art work around her classroom. Today they posted pictures of the kids making their art work. It’s cute to see Kenzie fingerpainting, and glad to know it’s not just the teacher doing the ‘art’!
And here’s Kenzie with one of her teachers, Ms. Jess.
