Children’s Museum

We had a couple of hours to kill before heading to the airport so we stopped off at the Children’s Museum. Kenzie had a good time but Brad had a fantastic time! He got to sit in the pilot’s seat of a real FedEx cargo plane (after bumping Kenzie out of the way), he got to play in the pretend control tower, play a laser harp, and make paper airplanes. I think this was his favorite part of Memphis!

4th Stop: Back to Memphis

We had a chance to take in the sights in Memphis before heading on to our next stop. First up: the Rendezvous for their famous ribs!

We also took a {fake} sternwheeler River boat tour on the Mississippi.

We drove by the Lorraine Motel, where Martin Luther King Jr. was shot (Kenzie’s namesake).

We took a short detour into Arkansas, mostly because Brad took a wrong turn.

The Peabody Ducks

We arrived in Memphis and found that our hotel was right across the way from the Peabody.  Brad and Kenzie had never seen the ducks so we headed over in time for the 5:00 return of the ducks from the fountain in the main lobby to their penthouse suite on the roof (via the elevator of course).2013-09-11 16.44.51 2013-09-11 18.24.56 2013-09-11 18.25.40 2013-09-11 18.27.41

3rd Stop: Oxford, MS (Day 2)

Brad and Kenzie spent the morning wandering the University of Mississippi campus while waiting for Jodi to finish up at her conference. Kenzie had a great time in her carrier and later in her stroller. She was exhausted but so afraid she’d miss something that she fell asleep sitting up in her stroller!

3rd Stop: Oxford, MS (Day 1)

After spending the day in Memphis, we packed up and headed down to Oxford for Jodi’s conference. Brad and Kenzie had some time to wander the town and check out the sights (there wren’t very many). Jodi went back to the square with them for dinner and a stroll through a VERY cool little book store. Since Faulkner and Grisham were both from Oxford, they had a ton of signed books. We also ate at THE BEST comfort food restaurant – Ajax. Highly recommended if you ever make it to Oxford.

Pool Time

Since it was hotter than the surface of the sun in OC this weekend, we spent some time in Mom & Jean’s pool. Kenzie started out a little hesitant but quickly became comfortable and loved swimming back and forth between the two of us!
