Defending The Hive!

Brad’s been out of town almost continuously for a week and a half. Normally, he’s the primary beekeeper but on one of his one–day layovers at home earlier this week he noticed that ants were starting to invade the hive. Since I am determined to bottle some honey this fall, that just wasn’t going to do. After some googling, I was able to rid the hive of ants with a little cinnamon! The bees (and their honey) are safe once again!

New Babies Everywhere!

Kenzie and I explored the farm today sine it finally stopped raining. We found two nests with eggs and one nest with baby birds! The first was a junco nest in the grass with 4 tiny eggs. The second is a Robin’s nest with beautiful blue eggs above our porch. Finally, we heard babies chirping out back and found this nest INSIDE the neck of our trailer (see the small round hole? They’re inside there!)
