This is not a regular stop for the ship and only one they do when they are repositioning from their winter route to their summer route. The cruise director recommend getting up 2 hours before we were scheduled to arrive to watch the route in and it was beautiful! We even found a playground for Kenzie.
Relaxing day on the ship. Brad took the behind the scenes tour and Kenzie spent time in the Splash Academy.
Jodi was feeling under the weather and didn’t make it off the ship today, but the others ventured into Sicily for a short walk. Kenzie had a great time making friends in the Splash Academy. She had her face painted as a zebra in the morning then joined back up with the group in the evening to dress up as pirates and march throughout the ship on a treasure hunt!
Today was spent traveling at sea. Kenzie got to spend some time at the Splash Academy and had a blast seeing her first magic show.
Our first stop was in Pompei and the only stop where we scheduled an excursion. Walking the the ruins of Pompei was one of Jodi’s bucket list things to do.
Staying close to the train station made our commute easy this morning. Just a one hour train ride to our port and then on to the Norwegian Jade! Within 15 minutes of boarding the ship we were at the buffet. Within the first two hours Kenzie and Jean were in the pool!
Brad, Cindi, and Jean started off the day by going to the coliseum and Jodi and Kenzie met up with them and went to the Piazza Navona. Drinking from the little fountains and throwing coins in the big ones! Then, on to the Pantheon.
today started with a trip to the Vatican then we split up so Jodi and Brad could take a Segway tour. It was a great way to see all the major sites in under 3 hours!
We decided to skip one day in Florence for an extra day in Venice and we were really glad we did. We had a great apartment at a great price and it gave us time to wander without feeling rushed.
We took the water bus to the train station and took the bullet train to Rome.
Once in Rome, Jodi and Brad went to a restaurant with no menu. Their sign says, “you’ll eat what we feed you.” Here’s the woman behind the whole meal – it was great!
