Kenzie and Mommy have a little tradition of stopping by the donut store Friday mornings on the way to school. Today, after we bought our donuts and started toward the table, the employee asked Kenzie what her name was. Of course she said, “Kenzie Blueberry!” So the nice man gave Kenzie a blueberry donut!
Day 4 was time to head home but I had a little time in the morning so I made a quick stop at the Intrepid Air and Space Museum.
Day 3 was a lot of great sightseeing. A lot of ground covered (over 12 miles on foot) and saw a lot.
First stop was the Staton Island ferry for a free trip across they bay, past the Statue of Liberty, and a view of Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge on the way back.
Then a walk through Wall Street and past the New York Stock Exchange.
Then uptown near Central Park and around the city.
Despite the rooms at the Waldorf Astoria being pretty poor. the lobby is beautiful.
I had to go to New York for a few days for a work project and on this one Jodi and Kenzie could not make it. I have some extra time so after work day 1 included some sight seeing.
Staying at the Waldorf Astoria on Park Avenue
For just $25.00 you can have 2 eggs any way you like them at the Waldorf.
The 911 Memorial. It’s a very sad experience visiting this, but something everyone who has the opportunity should do.
Outside the waterfalls are encircled by the names of the people killed on 9/11. This one caught my eye and was particularly sad. The inscription reads “Jennifer L. Howley and her unborn child” with a stuffed bear someone left.
Fire station 10 which is directly across from the World Trade Center.
The Chinese market was a blast. You can get everything here including a couple alligator claws if you feel like it.
It’s really interesting to see how trash is handled. New York apparently does not believe in dumpsters. At the end of the night everything is just stacked on the curb.
And it’s comforting to know that if you need CPR, all you need to do is ask.
She says she missed her Tucker Boy so much!
Jodi got to spend time playing with the “ground pounders” today… Tracking with a compass, using pacing beads, starting fires and building shelters. Cold but fun stuff!
