Jodi stayed home from work today to prepare for this weekend’s EMT state practical exams. A little after 1pm a mutual aid call for Molalla toned out – Natural Gas line break in downtown Molalla! Jodi made it on the engine and, when on scene, the Colton crew was responsible for pulling several hose lines, spraying down the concrete above the broken line before the Natural Gas crews began cutting in to the pavement to repair the pipe. Jodi was on the nozzle and got to watch the crews reach the gas line – it was amazing to see how much gas was coming out of the broken line! It’s difficult to tell from the picture, but there is a huge amount of natural gas shooting out of the middle of the hole in the ground! Jodi and crew stood by with hoses at the ready in case anything sparked. The Colton crew also had a bit of a scare when it was discovered the at the engine was parked directly over a manhole that had the potential to blow! It was a very exciting afternoon! Since the crews planned to be on site well into the night, Jodi had to call Brad and have him pick her up in time to make it to EMT finals!
