The plan was for Jodi to ‘sleep in’ until 4am and then tackle Black Friday solo, but Kenzie decided to wake everyone at 1:30 (first time she’s gotten up this early in several weeks…must be the new teeth!) then, Brad decided he did want to go, after all! So, all bundled up and out of the house by 3 for Kenzie’s first black Friday!!

By the way, LOVE that several stores were open Thanksgiving night – no lines in the early morning hours!

Note from Brad:

This was the first in many years to come where Jodi is passing along her hard earned knowledge of Black Friday shopping to Mackenzie.  After years of Jodi perfecting her art, Mackenzie will soon be an expert and seasoned shopping machine.  Over the years Jodi has refined her skills though minor mistakes are always a possibility (for example this year Jodi pre-staged a hidden selection of socks a few days before at the local Fred Meyer to speed her Black Friday shopping but a last minute change of plans resulted in us going to a different Fred Meyer.  Lesson learned – always pre-stage your product in at least 2 stores so you have a backup!).  But she’s passing along the lessons of her bigger mistakes (like the year she was in such a frenzied state of excitement that she forgot her shoes).  You might think that the reduced weight would be an shopping advantage, however it turns out that the reduced traction is not worth the trade off.  These and other lessons will be passed on from generation to generation!
